Oh, happy day! Today, we’re celebrating, because it’s Color Play Friday’s First Birthday! And you know celebrating calls for gifts… I have two giveaways for you today, but more on that later.
Color Play Friday is hosted by Trina from In An Otter Life and myself. If you’re new to Color Play Friday, head over to my Color Play Friday page to see the rules and my palettes and bundles from previous weeks. You can also search #colorplayfriday on Instagram to see lots of past palettes and bundles.
What else could we have a picture of this week besides a fun and colorful birthday cake?!
This picture was so bright and happy, and I wanted to capture the feeling of all that colorful confetti.
All the fabrics in this bundle are from Hawthorne Threads:
Robert Kaufman House Designer, Spot On, Small Spots in Pomegranate
Holly Degroot, Brush Strokes, Confetti in Multi
Holly Degroot, Brush Strokes, Facets in Multi
Robert Kaufman House Designer, London Calling Lawn 5, Pretty Petals in Meadow
Karen Lewis, Blueberry Park, Kite Strings in Breakers
Elizabeth Hartman, Pacific, Starlight in Teal
As a bonus this week, Trina and I opened up the CPF vault as an opportunity for a ‘second chance bundle’. This is where we can take a picture from the past, and have another go at it.
For my second chance bundle, I chose this photo of Trina’s. It was one of our very first Color Play Friday pictures, and I was thrilled with my bundle at the time. Looking back, I still love the bundle I chose, but I wanted to try another look.
.
Here are the fabrics I chose for my ‘second chance’ bundle:
Karen Lewis, Blueberry Park, Flowerbed in Zucchini
Dinara Mirtalipova, Gardening, Garden Accessories in Green
Jessica Jones, Typography, Script in Khaki
Aneela Hoey, Foxglove, Evening Primrose in Orange
Aneela Hoey, Foxglove, Foxgloves in Orange
Melody Miller, Picnic, Picnic Blanket in Red
(These fabrics are also all from our giveaway sponsor, Hawthorne Threads)
A note about scale:
- While I believe scale is a very important part of fabric selection, the fabrics shown in my Color Play images are not always perfectly to scale. I do my best, by you should always double check scale before ordering!
And, of course, I haven’t forgotten our giveaways!
First up, we have a $25 gift card from Hawthorne Threads.
Trina and I both love using their website to ‘shop’ for our Color Play Friday bundles, so we were thrilled when Hawthorne Threads said they would sponsor a giveaway to help us celebrate.
Our second giveaway is a little bundle and Grunge charm pack from my stash. With two bright Color Play Friday bundles this week, I felt like I needed a mellow bundle to balance things out a bit!
Here are the giveaway rules:
This giveaway is open to US participants 18 years and older and will be open until Wednesday, September 14th at 9pm Pacific Standard Time.
I will select a two winners from comments via random.org. The first name selected will receive the Hawthorne Threads gift card, and the second will receive the bundle from me. I will announce our winners on Friday the 16th. Duplicate entries will be excluded from the drawing.
To Enter:
- I’m making it easy today: Leave me a comment, any comment! Favorite color, favorite fabric designer, brand of machine you use, or just say hello! That’s all there is to it!
Please make sure I can get a hold of you if you’re one of our winners! If you’re a no-reply blogger, put your email address in your comment in this format: your_email (at) outlook (dot) com
If I can’t contact you, a new winner will be selected.
And I’m not the only one hosting a Color Play Friday giveaway today! Trina and Steph are both giving goodies away on their blogs as well.
Don’t forget to head over to all the other blogs and see what they came up with! The fun of Color Play Friday is seeing the differences and similarities between everyone’s bundles.
Participants this week:
Laurel and Pine (that’s me!)
Next week’s photo is one of Trina’s, and I love her tongue-in-cheek photo title: Naked at the Airport.
Are you enjoying Color Play Friday? We’d love for you to get in on the fun and create your own Color Play post! You can create a bundle of fabric, select yarns or embroidery threads, or create a project inspired by our photo. Be sure to let Trina or I know so we can link up to you. You can get in contact with us at colorplayfriday@gmail.com
I hope you can join us next week!
Happy Sewing, ~L
